Storm Damages

Rescue crews are working hard to help residents after this morning's storms.

Grayslake fire and police officials are out dealing with the aftermath of the brief but powerful storm this morning.

Grayslake Fire Department Chief John Christian said his crews are out assessing and surveying the damage, and helping residents in need.

"We're still trying to get through all the calls we've gotten this morning," Christian said. "We probably received 60 to 70 calls."

During the height of the storm, Monday morning between about 7:45 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., power lines were downed, tree limbs snapped and roadways blocked.

The National Weather Service predicts more severe storms could happen throughout the day as temperatures and humidity remain high. According to the NWS: heat index values will be as high as 99. The west wind between 5 and 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent.
