Grayslake Girl Continues Fight to Ban Plastic Bags

Abby Goldberg, 13, has joined the campaign to ban plastic bags in Chicago, reports the Chicago Tribune.

The Grayslake teen, who collected 174,000 signatures last year asking Gov. Pat Quinn to veto legislation that would have stripped communities of their right to ban plastic bags (which he did), is back on the environmental campaign trail.

On Tuesday, Goldberg joined other environmentalists at Chicago's City Hall in support of a proposal to ban plastic bags at Chicago stores, reported the Chicago Tribune. Retailers feel it will impact their business. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is reportedly seeking more information.
