Grayslake Residents: Something Must be Done About Trains

What do you think the village should do to keep trains from stopping and blocking railroad crossings?

With the news that Grayslake village officials are seeking solutions to keep trains from stopping and blocking railroad crossings in town, residents took to the Grayslake Patch website and Facebook page to share their thoughts.

The majority of commenters expressed support for the village officials' intention to ask state and federal legislators for their help in dealing with the train issues.

One reader on the Grayslake Patch Facebook page said that problem must be fixed somehow.

"It's terrible," he said.

"Was very pleased to hear the village is trying to do something about this as I was stuck today in the mess," another reader wrote Tuesday night. "I even called both the village and the Canadian National RR to complain about it!! Enough is enough; the number (of) trains coming through keeps getting higher and it will only get worse."

One reader suggested that a possible solution would be to "extend the double tracks farther toward Libertyville."

Do you support the village's plan to seek help from state and federal legislators? What do you think the solution is to keep the trains from stopping and blocking railroad crossings?
