Grayslake Takes Steps to Regulate Massage Businesses

The Grayslake Village Board recently approved 6-0 an ordinance amendment requiring a special-use permit for those interested in opening a massage business in the village, according to the Daily Herald.

The special use permit would require approval by the village board, according to the article. The newspaper reports the hope is for the village to have more control on the types of massage businesses coming into town following a prostitution bust at a local parlor last year.

The village board revoked the business license for the Grayslake spa, Kyoto Spa & Massage, located at 790 Barron Blvd., last year after police conducted an undercover investigation that resulted in the arrest of two female employees for prostitution, according to an earlier article on the Daily Herald.

Police had also received several complaints that Kyoto Spa was offering sexual favors for money, reported the newspaper.
