Illinois Senate Passes Same-Sex Marriage Bill

The marriage equality bill now just has to be signed by Gov. Pat Quinn.

In a stunningly quick vote, the Illinois Senate approved the same-sex marriage bill 32-21 Nov. 5, less than an hour after the Illinois House passed the bill.

Gov. Pat Quinn said on Twitter that "Illinois is a place that embraces all people and today, we are an example for the nation." Gov. Quinn has previously said he would sign the bill into law after it was passed by the Illinois Congress.
