As the third largest transit authority in North America, the Regional Transportation Authority provides more than two million rides a day across six counties.
The RTA which operates the Pace, Metra and CTA systems, looks to its Regional Citizens Advisory Board for advice on the impact of the RTA's policies and programs in the communities. Greg Koeppen will serve as the Vice-Chairman for the RCAB for the next two years.
"It's my goal to represent the residents of Lake County who use public transportation both here in Lake County and throughout the RTA system," Koeppen said.
With the combined assets of the RTA valued at more than $42 billion, Koeppen said he believes "I will be able to bring a legislative and financial perspective to the board as the RTA looks to the future working with the CTA, PACE and Metra," he said.
Koeppen also said he is looking forward to serving on the board as he is familiar with the transportation needs of Lake County and also a frequent user of CTA in Chicago.
Koeppen adds the title to an already long resume of community involvement. He is currently the Executive Director of the , Vice Chairman of the Lake County Zoning Board of Appeals, a Fire Commissioner for the Grayslake Fire Protection District and a member of the Board of Directors for the Grayslake Chamber of Commerce and the Lake County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Koeppen will serve alongside newly elected Chairman Christopher Canning of Wilmette.
