Metra: Weather Halts Trains This Morning; More Delays Possible

The cold weather resulted in delays this morning on Metra lines throughout the Chicago suburbs with the possibility of more delays Monday, according to the Metra website. 

Metra reports that depending on the severity of conditions in your area Monday, your train may experience delays due to climate-related speed restrictions. Metra is working to utilize all possible measures available to combat extraordinary weather conditions, according to a service alert posted on the Metra website.

Service advisories and delays from this morning and throughout the day will be posted on Metra's website. One train on Metra's Milwaukee District north line was delayed from 80 to 85 minutes Monday morning, according to the Metra website. 

Metra is encouraging passengers to plan for extra travel time to assure a "safe passage to and from your destination," according to the service alert. 

"We regret any unanticipated weather related delays that you may experience and appreciate your patience," according to the service alert," according to the Metra service alert.
