Patch Profile: Quin O'Brien

Political newcomer running against incumbents for a spot on the Grayslake Village Board.

Quin O’Brien, owner of 4 Sale Realty Company, is running against incumbent trustees Jeff Werfel, Ron Jarvis and Kevin Waldenstrom in the Grayslake Village Board’s April election.

The four men running for the three seats on the village board agree that a focus on residents’ needs coupled with looking toward future development and fiscal planning are top priorities.

O’Brien has owned his Grayslake-based company since 2000 and has lived with his family in Grayslake for over six years. He said he admires the village’s ability to maintain fiscal responsibility.

“I actually admire the job that the current board has done,” he said.

But he also sees room for growth in its communication with residents.

“I believe the board has a responsibility to listen to and do the will of the citizens. In order to do so, there needs to be better communication about upcoming events,” he said.

One way to better inform residents could be through the village’s website, he said.

“The village has a great Request 4 Service program through its website. It would be nice to add a more detailed advanced notice as to the agenda of upcoming meetings to give residents more time to plan to participate,” O'Brien said.
