Same Sex Marriage in Illinois: Pros and Cons

Are you celebrating the vote to approve same sex marriage in Illinois, or concerned about it's repercussions?

Reactions to same-sex marriage being legalized in Illinois by the llinois House ranged from "Finally - it's about time!" to "It destroys the institution of marriage."

The vote made Illinois the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage, according to the Chicago Tribune. Gov. Pat Quinn vowed to sign the bill, which would take effect June 1. Here is a sampling of reactions, according to the Chicago Sun-Times:

David Harris, a Republican opponent of the bill, told Reuters that, "There are many people who believe in the fundamental traditional definition of a marriage of a man and a woman. They are not homophobic."
