Trustees Vote to Transfer Property to Forest Preserve

Trustees also approved the establishment a business district for the Cornerstone Development.

Grayslake Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to transfer land to the Lake County Forest Preserve District.

The land, which includes several 10-foot-wide parcels adjacent to the Rollins Savanna, was requested by the Lake County Forest Preserve District to help facilitate wetland maintenance, said Mayor Rhett Taylor.

The land, he added, "is no longer of use to the village." It had been set aside as a utility easement and as a buffer for the Chesapeake Farm subdivision.

"The Forest Preserve will now be responsible for maintaining that property," said Taylor.

During the short meeting, trustees also voted unanimously to:

  • Approve the establishment of a business district for the Cornerstone Development, located at Peterson and Alleghany. The establishment of a business district was included in the agreements for the Cornerstone project. The 640-acre development is slated to include office, light industrial, and research and development space.
  • Authorize the execution of a contract with McHenry Analytical Water Laboratories for water sampling services at a cost not to exceed $13,000. "This is something we do to maintain the health of our water supply," said Taylor.
