Schools Closed for Second Day Due to Weather

Wind chill values as low as -39 are expected Tuesday.

UPDATE, 3:50 p.m.: Gloryland Preschool, Old School Montessori and all three College of Lake County campuses will be closed Tuesday, according to the Emergency Closing Center website.

UPDATE, 2:02 p.m.: 
Prairie Crossing Charter School officials announced that there will be no school on Jan. 7. 

School officials shared this message on Facebook: "The weather forecast continues to call for dangerously cold air temperatures and wind chill through at least mid-day on Tuesday due to this unusual Polar Vortex. Based upon the continued extreme temperatures and wind chill that will persist overnight through Tuesday Mid Day, all school functions, before school care and after school care have also been cancelled. There will be no Band nor clubs meeting tomorrow. The Office will be closed until Wednesday, January 8."

St. Gilbert Catholic School officials announced on Facebook that there will be no school on Jan. 7.

 Classes have been canceled in Community Consolidated School District 46 and Grayslake Community High School District 127 for Jan. 7.

According to a message on the District 46 Facebook page, schools will be closed Tuesday "due to the continuing dangerous weather conditions."

District 127 officials shared this message on the district website: "Due to inclement weather, classes as well as all activities, athletic events and practices have been cancelled for Tuesday, January 7th at both Grayslake Central and Grayslake North. District and building offices are closed."
