D127 Journalism Students Headed to IHSA Finals

Journalism students from Grayslake Central and Grayslake North high schools have qualified for the IHSA journalism finals, to be held April 26 at Eastern Illinois University.

Grayslake Central

Congratulations to the GCHS Rampage staff members who qualified for the IHSA state journalism competition finals by placing in the top 3 in their categories at the sectionals on Satureday at Belvidere North High School.

Reeti Goyal placed third in both news writing and editorial writing.

Nicole Swierczek placed third in newspaper design and feature writing.

Congratulations also go out to students Saad Nasir, Sam Nusbaum, and Jackson Truskowski for placing in sectionals.

Grayslake North

Congratulations to the GNHS Knights Times staff, which placed third overall at Saturday's competition.

Senior Sunny Muehleman placed first in advertising and third in editorial cartooning.

Danielle Schafer placed first in news writing.

Senior Emily Pahl placed first in yearbook layout and fifth in info graphics.

Rebecca Watters placed second in yearbook copy writing.

Sean Blashe placed second in sports writing and fourth in headline writing.

Sophomore Shannon Dacey placed sixth in newspaper design.

Students placing in the top three of their categories will travel to Eastern Illinois University on April 26 to compete in the IHSA finals.
