D46 Board Approves School Fee Increase

The board also selected its new president, vice president and secretary.

The Grayslake District 46 Board voted Wednesday night to approve an increase in school fees.

The fees will increase by $10 for grades one through eight in 2013-14. Kindergarten fees will increase by $25 in 2014-15.

Board Member Kip Evans and outgoing Board Member Michael Carbone voted against the measure.

The board previously rejected the idea of raising school fees as a means to help eliminate a $2.2 million deficit.

In other news, later in the meeting, the new board members were seated. The new board selected Steven Strack as its new president, with Jim Weidman as the vice president and Jill Alfrejd as the secretary.

Editor's Note: Just for clarification, the vote on the school fees was made by the old, outgoing board. The new board members were seated later in the meeting.
