District 46 Education Foundation Softball Tourney Big Success

First annual Home Run for Education is a grand slam.

The D46 Education Foundation hosted its first annual Home Run for Education softball tournament on Sept. 15 in Central Park.

Eight teams of 10-15 players came together for this exciting and spirited all day event in the beautiful late summer sunshine. Four opening round games took place in the morning, followed by two semi-final match-ups in the early afternoon.

Two teams were left standing for the championship game: Frederick School Teachers vs Hit for Brains. The championship game was great entertainment as a talented Hit for Brains team outlasted a strong team of Frederick School teachers.

The tournament was capped by a short awards celebration at The Vine’s annual outdoor Blues Fest where the champions donated $500 of their $600 prize money to the D46 Education Foundation.

The D46 Education Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the educational programming provided for the children in CCSD #46 by funding programs and initiatives that foster innovative and enriching learning experiences in the areas of science, technology, mathematics, and cultural arts.

Our vision is to provide programs, curricula, and resources that will assist the district with providing the students of CCSD #46 access to a world-class education. We are dedicated to ensuring that the education of our children is commensurate with the workforce demands of the 21st Century global economy.

The D46 Education Foundation is always looking new members for our board of directors, communications committee, fund-raising committee, and general volunteers for events. Participation on the D46 Foundation Board of Directors offers community members an opportunity to be a part of a collaborative team whose sole mission is finding creative ways to support the students and teachers in Grayslake.

Additionally, the D46 Education Foundation welcomes partnerships with our local businesses. We present a unique opportunity for businesses to increase visibility among District 46 families while simultaneously supporting innovation and excellence in education. We offer our community partners the opportunity to have their philanthropic efforts recognized at our fundraising events and on our website.
