Free Geoscience Workshop for Teachers

The Fall 2010 Geoscience Workshop, co-sponsored by the College of Lake County's Science Outreach Program and the Educator's Center of Lake County, will be Saturday, November 13 from 8 am to 12:30 pm in Room T114 at the CLC's Grayslake campus.  It is free and provides 3 CPDU credits for area teachers. The morning includes breakfast, an overview of Science Outreach and Educators' Center plans and activities and two science sessions:

Local high school teachers Kelda Hutson and Melanie Mudarth will share resources and demonstrate activities that they learned during an International Polar Year STEM workshop they attended at UMass Amherst last July.  They will provide handouts.  These activities can be implemented in K-12 classrooms at low cost.

Terry Stigall, Technical Director, Earthquake Education Program, Indian University, will conduct a workshop on hands-on earthquake activities for middle school and high school classrooms.
