Prairie Circle to Celebrate Women's History Month in March

March 1st marks the start of Women’s History Month in the United States.  Prairie Circle Congregation will participate in celebrating Women’s History Month through a three-part series about the influential feminist artist, Judy Chicago. Participants may attend all three sessions, however, if time does not allow, you are welcome to attend the sessions that fit your schedule.  Please RSVP by contacting Rev. Session 1:  Thursday, March 8th:

Who is Judy Chicago and What Is The Dinner Party?

This will be a presentation about Judy Chicago and her monumental art piece The Dinner Party and its relevance today. Part of the discussion will focus on a woman who has made a significant difference in your life.  You will also begin the design process for the dinner plate you will paint in session 2.  The presentation is offered at 7 p.m. at the Grayslake Area Public Library located at 100 Library Lane, Grayslake, 847-223-5313.

Session 2: Saturday, March 17th:

Design and Paint Your Own Dinner Plate

Starting at 11:00 a.m. at The Neil Estrick Gallery, come paint a dinner plate to honor the woman who has made a significant difference in your life.  The plates will be fired in the Gallery’s kiln and available on March 31st for use at the third session of our series, our own dinner party. The Neil Estrick Gallery is located at 888 E Belvidere Rd., Suite 101, Grayslake, 847-223-1807.  For more information about the Gallery go to:

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to have a plate to design and paint on, you need to order a plate from the Gallery. The deadline to order it is Sunday, February 26th.  An order form will be available at the Visitors’ Welcome Table on Sunday mornings.  You can also order a plate by contacting Rev. Ziegler at revziegler@comcast.net or calling her at 847-629-5868.  A plate's cost is $20. Confidential financial aid is available through Rev. Ziegler.

 

Session 3: Saturday, Mar. 31st, 6:30 p.m.:

Our Own Dinner Party Celebration

This party will be a great way for Prairie Circle to end its celebration of Women’s History Month.  It will be a potluck dinner where we’ll honor and celebrate all of the women starring on the plates that participants designed and painted.  The location for this feast will be announced at a later date.  

 

Women, men, children, old and young --  everyone -- is invited to attend and participate in this series, which is open to the general public.
