Recycle Electronics & Support a Great Cause!

Countryside Association for People with Disabilities will host two Electronics Recycling Drives on Thursday, September 29 and Thursday, October 13. Items can be dropped off any time between 8:30 AM and 1 PM at Lakeside Center, 1301 S. Lewis Ave., Waukegan.

The following items will be accepted: computers (no monitors), hard drives, laptops and laptop batteries, disk drives, processors, modems, keyboards, cords and wires, chargers, video game systems, stereo equipment and cassette players, small appliances, telephones, cell phones, headphones, microphones, speakers, answering machines, printers, fax machines, and copy machines. Regretfully, we cannot accept computer monitors, televisions, microwaves, refrigerators, dehumidifiers, and air conditioning units. If you have questions about what items we can accept, contact Michael Garamoni at (847) 540-3811.

The idea for this drive came from individuals at Countryside Association. A recycling committee comprised of program participants was formed in May for the purpose of learning about the recycling process, living a “green” lifestyle, and working as a team to fight pollution. The program succeeds in giving participants the opportunity to raise money for the programs and services they love. A previous recycling drive in May 2011 raised hundreds of dollars to support program participants, who will make a collective decision as to how the funds are spent.
