“Social Emotional Learning Workshop”

Lake County –Imagine a school where students are eager and ready to learn. Where they feel a sense of connection to their school and teachers, feel safe from bullies, perform to their fullest academically and treat everyone in the community with respect.  These are the points that will be addressed at a workshop sponsored by the Parent Mentors from the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) Joy Bux and Priscilla Cuba. They are hosting this workshop for parents of special needs students on the topic of “Social Emotional Learning” on Thursday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m., in the SEDOL Administration Conference Room, 18160 Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake.

            The workshop will be presented by Linda Delimata, M.S. Ed, who has been an educator, counselor, and administrator. She currently works for the Illinois children’s Mental Health Partnership.

  • What social emotional learning is and why it is important for all students
  • The five core competencies of social and emotional learning
  • Social emotional learning goals and standards from the Illinois State Board of Education
  • What social emotional learning might look like for students receiving special education services

   This program is free and open to all families & educators within SEDOL’s member districts. Babysitting will NOT be available.
