Grayslake North Lacrosse: Day One of Spring Break

The Grayslake North Lacrosse team will be providing updates throughout the week about their spring break trip.

Arriving at the school at approximately 9 a.m. our lacrosse team loaded onto the bus for our annual spring break business trip.

Accompanied by four chaperones and 24 lacrosse players, we began our journey to Midway airport via coach bus. Amidst a loud discussion about who would win in a fight, Anderson Silva or a Navy Seal, we broke discussion to find ourselves at Midway.

After already wandering the airport for an hour and a half, we were told that our flight was being delayed another 45 minutes. After spending the extra 45 minutes wandering through Midway Airport, we were gifted with priority boarding thanks to Assistant Coach Ed Trabulsy’s heroic ways. The 1 hour and 45 minute flight blew by to most, but was a nightmare for first time flyer Jake McCue.

As we landed in Raleigh, NC, we were welcomed by rainy skies and Coach (Brad) Fish. We gathered our belongings and took another coach bus to our luxury nearby hotel. Being as rainy as day as it was, our 6:30 practice was canceled and we were given about an hour to relax before dinner at Cinellis, which was only a two-minute walk away. At Cinellis, we experienced tasty salad and endless loaves of fresh baked bread. For entrees we were given Chicken Parmesan, Lasagna, or Tortellini Carmenara—all being delicious entrées.

Afterwards the lacrosse team enjoyed free time in the hotel to chit chat amongst ourselves. Coach Fish made strict rules about curfew. “Lights out by 11,” he said, which is understandable considering we will face our first opponents of this trip tomorrow, the Apex Cougars.
