Grayslake North Basketball Player Kendall Detweiler is a Shooting Star

At the IHSA's Class 4A 3-point basketball shootout on Thursday, Grayslake North junior Kendall Detweiler showed them who had the goods. She advanced to finals Friday.

Congratulations to Grayslake North High School basketball player Kendall Detweiler, who led the way at Thursday's Illinois High School Association's Class 4A 3-point basketball competition at Redbird Arena in Normal, Ill.

Detweiler, a junior at GNHS, made 9 out of 15 shots as the sixth shooter in Class4A, reported the Daily Herald. Her top shooting score held up through 26 additional shooters, earning her a spot in Friday's finals. Today's winner advances to Saturday's Queen of the Hill competition, reported the Daily Herald.

"I just want to relax, have fun and do well," Detweiler told the Daily Herald. "I'm happy to have made it this far."

In the spring of 2011, Detweiler placed second out of 120 people in a 3-point shooting contest in girls basketball. Head Grayslake North coach Jim Sarver said the feat made her one of the top finishers in District 127’s history.
