Grayslake Rams Varsity Cheerleaders take 6th in State Finals
The 2013 IHSA Competitive Cheerleading State Finals took place on Saturday, Feb. 2 at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.
The Grayslake Central High School Rams earned a trip to compete at IHSA State Competition this year after finishing third in the Sectionals Competition. They showed up to last Friday's State Preliminary competition and put their best on the mat, finishing in the top 10 and punching their ticket to Saturday's Finals Competition.
"I could not be more proud of this team. They really worked hard this year, pushing each day to get better," said Jessica Reblin, varsity cheerleading coach.
On Saturday, the Rams performed in the State Finals, finishing sixth overall.
"This is a huge accomplishment for the Rams team; everyone should be so proud of what they've accomplished this year," said Reblin.
"Some of my favorite moments from the state tournament was after we performed on the first day, we were all so happy and so proud of what we did," said Senior Captain Brittney Jackson. "And then later that day we found out we made top 10 and I was so happy! It was the best feeling in the world! Knowing that we were top ten in the state of Illinois was amazing and the best ending to my senior year of cheerleading!"
