Grayslake Schools Celebrate Red Ribbon Week

Activities supporting Red Ribbon Week, which promotes a drug and alcohol-free healthy lifestyle, will be held in Grayslake schools throughout this week.

Students in Grayslake District 46 will be wearing red, participating in contests and activities and pledging to live a healthy lifestyle by saying no to drugs, tobacco and alcohol during Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign which runs Oct 23-31.

Grayslake schools will recognize the campaign this week.

Participating schools include: Avon, Frederick, Grayslake Middle School, Meadowview, Park, Prairieview and Woodview.

Highlights

*Avon students will be wearing red, creating posters and participating in spirit days.

*Frederick students will "Pledge to Make a Difference" by creating Red Ribbon Week posters, which will be voted on. The winning homeroom per grade level will get a pizza party.

*Grayslake Middle School will host its 2nd annual Red Ribbon Week Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. Proceeds will benefit the GMS Activity Fund and NICASA.

*Meadowview students will have a potato-growing contest Tuesday and they'll plant red tulip bulbs Wednesday.

*Park campus students will dressed in red Monday and have a "Crazy Sock Day" Tuesday, among other activities.

*Prairieview students will wear their favorite sports teams' jersey or team colors. On Wednesday, they'll vote for which class is the "reddest."

*Woodview students will have a special Red Ribbon Week assembly Thursday.
