Help Define the Future of District 50 Schools

The school district seeks participants to help develop the new strategic plan.

Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50 invites its community to participate in a fall strategic planning process that will begin next month. The Board of Education is seeking suggestions for issues to be included in the development of the district's new strategic plan.

"We invite all members of the community--staff, parents and taxpayers to participate in this important process that will assist the Board of Education with defining the future of this district," said Board President Dr. L.A. Gregorash.

The process will take place from 1-5 p.m. on October 19 and will conclude the following day from 8 a.m. to noon. Both meetings will be held in the Woodland Educational Support Center, 1105 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee.

The October 19 meeting will include an overview of the Strategic Planning process, development of strategic objectives and current status of district goals. The October 20 meeting will include consideration of the district’s strategic initiatives, a review of our current district Mission and Beliefs and next steps.

"The Board is seeking broad-based participation in this process and is including stakeholders from across the community," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joy A. Swoboda. "It believes that strong participation will yield better information for issues to be considered in the planning process. As this process is critical to the future direction of the district, we ask that those interested commit to both sessions."

While this is the first step that marks the district’s strategic planning process, there will be an additional opportunity for participation prior to Winter Break once the district convenes its action planning committees. The purpose of these committees is to assist with developing the specific action steps/initiatives to successfully achieve the goals of the newly defined strategic plan.
