How Does District 46 Rate?

The Grayslake-based elementary District 46 seeks your input.

Now is your chance to say what you think. Really.

Community Consolidated School District 46, based in Grayslake, is asking for opinions to identify the strengths and weaknesses in the school's climate and environment.

Parents, teachers, students and community members have through the end of March 2013 to take a 15-minute research based survey to help identify areas in which the school can improve or is doing well.

The survey is called School Environment Matters. The results will be compiled with others from across Illinois, 5Essentials Survey to Help Improve Student Learning.

"We encourage all our teachers, students and parents to make their voices heard to impact change by completing this survey," stated District 46 Ellen Correll.

District 46 is joining the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to help people have a role in improving their schools. The 15-minute research-based survey to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school's climate and learning conditions, according to the District 46 website.

According to the website, the survey helps participants have a voice in improving the state's nearly 4,000 schools.

The survey offers a "unique opportunity to deliver more comprehensive and reliable information on how to improve schools that test scores alone simply cannot capture," the website states. The end result will be a comprehensive user-friendly school report that offers a comprehensive picture of schools' strengths and weaknesses and provides a clear path to improvement.

5Essentials is based on more than 20 years of research by the University of Chicago's Consortium on Chicago School Research on schools and what makes them successful.
