Live for Music Concert Returns To Grayslake Oct. 24

Recording artist and songwriter Shaun Barrowes will perform with local high school students in a unique concert Oct. 24. The concert helps fund local music and arts programs.

Shaun Barrowes brings his unique concert “Live for Music” back to Grayslake for an encore performance. “Live for Music” was created to help fund high school music and arts programs across the country and features talented local students where each concert is staged.

An American Idol finalist in Season 7, Barrowes has had an original song featured on Lifetime television and on an Xbox video game. One of his original songs also was selected for a national Pepsi commercial.

Barrowes created the “Live for Music” concerts to help fund music, dance and theater programs in high schools throughout the nation. Barrowes will perform at upcoming concerts in Illinois, Arizona, California and Nebraska, according to a release.

Barrowes has local students perform with him during his concerts, giving them valuable experience. Grayslake North High School invited Barrowes back for another concert to give students the opportunity to work with a professional entertainer, as well as to help raise funds for music and arts programs at the school.

The concert will be held at , at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24. It will feature Barrowes performing duets with students Melanie Kulatilake and Amy Kennedy. Also featured will be the school’s choir, instrumental group Slam Funk, selected members from the marching band and individuals from the Drumline.
