Local School Districts See Increase in Low-Income Student Population

Students in poverty can experience a variety of risk factors and issues, according to the Daily Herald.

Poverty rates have seen a drastic jump in suburban school districts from 2000 to 2012, according to the Daily Herald. 

Within Grayslake Elementary District 46, the low-income student population increased by 14 percent from 2000 to 2012, according to the Daily Herald. The state average for increases in the low-income student population grew by 12.3 percent from 2000 to 2012, according to the Daily Herald.
