No School Tuesday in Districts 46, 127; Grayslake Library Opening Late

St. Gilbert School will also be closed.

Local schools are already canceling classes for Tuesday in advance of the continued extreme cold.

Community Consolidated School District 46 and Community High School District 127 both announced on the district websites that classes will be canceled for Jan. 28.

"Due to extreme cold temperatures, classes as well as all activities (including ACT Prep), athletic events and practices have been canceled for Tuesday, Jan. 28 at both Grayslake Central and Grayslake North. District and building offices are closed. The Strategic Planning Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening is also canceled and will be rescheduled for a later date," District 127 officials posted on the district website.

According to the Emergency Closing Center website, Moving Mountains Montessori and St. Gilbert School will also be closed Tuesday.

The Grayslake Library will only be open from 1-5 p.m. Tuesday, according to the library's Facebook page.

The forecast high for Tuesday is minus 2, with wind chill values as low as 39 degrees below zero, according to the National Weather Service. A wind chill warning remains in effect until Wednesday morning.
