District 127 EXPLORE testing

EXPLORE high school placement testing will take place on Oct. 27. All 8th grade students living in District 127 boundaries and planning to attend Grayslake Central or Grayslake North High School for the 2013-14 school year should participate.

Grayslake Central Debate Team finishes big

The GCHS Debate Team finished 5th out of 12 teams in the small schools division at the tournament held at Stevenson High School Oct. 12 and 13.

Junior Shawn Podowski earned a 1st Place Award for Best Presiding Officer, which earned him a gavel. He also earned a 2nd Place Best Speaker Award in his chamber. There were 415 students participating in 21 chambers at the tournament.

Senior Alex Mazza was the RAMS leading point-getter.

"The entire team did well and everyone who participated improved on their performance over the last tournament," said Denise Kindle, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Services for District 127.

The RAMS are coached by Glenn Watt and Sarah Greenswag.

 

Former GCHS staffer to be inducted into Hall of Fame

Long-time teacher, coach, and dean, Joel Peebles, will be inducted into the Lake County High School Sports Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place at the 24th annual Keith Ryan Scholarship Fund and Sports Banquet at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Midlane Golf Resort in Wadsworth.

Peebles retired from District 127 at the end of the 2011-2012 school year with 34 years of experience in education.

 

Grayslake North students to participate in 2012 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

The culmination of their campaign will be participating the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at Independence Grove in Libertyville Sunday, Oct. 1

GNHS blood drive

Grayslake North High School will participate in a LifeSource blood drive from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23. This event is being coordinated by the Student Council.
