Swanson Retires from District 50, Position Restructured

Dr. Anne Swanson retires after nine years at Woodland. Her position is restructured as Deborah Pellettiere takes over.

After over 20 years of service in education with 12 years spent at Woodland, Dr. Anne Swanson retired from Woodland Community Consolidated School District 50.

"I am very much looking forward to this change and new opportunities, but will always remember Woodland with great fondness," said Swanson.

The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability began her employment in 1999 when she was hired as a Curriculum Supervisor.

"I'm pleased to leave the district with continuously improving student achievement, a strong and well-articulated Advanced and Challenge program, a large number of children who complete Algebra I by the end of 8th grade and our Spanish I program that involves collaboration with Warren Township High School," said Swanson.

In addition, Swanson is credited with pioneering the district's Dual Language program which will be implemented in Kindergarten this fall.

"Although I'm sorry I won't see it on the first day, I'm very happy to see the Dual Language program implemented this fall," said Swanson.

At the June 26 Board of Education meeting, Deborah Pellettiere was named the new Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning. With Swanson's retirement, the position has been restructured to be more in alignment with the current needs of the district.

"Woodland District 50 has been very fortunate to have had many years of dedicated, professional, and highly skilled service from Anne Swanson," said Board President Dr. L.A. Gregorash. "The district is looking forward to its future with Deb Pellettiere assuming her new role as Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning in her continuing service to the district and the Woodland School community."

Pellettiere, who is currently an assistant principal at Woodland Intermediate School, has been with the district for 17 years, 11 of which have been spent as an administrator.

"I am excited to join the Teaching and Learning Department as a member of Woodland's administrative team," said Pellettiere. "I look forward to working with the teachers and students in Woodland District as we move forward in implementing the Common Core State Standards."
