Two Grayslake Schools to Have Half-Days This Week Due to Heat

Meadowview and Woodview Schools will operate on a half-day schedule Aug. 28-30.

The oppressive heat continues to result in closures at Grayslake District 46 schools.

The district announced on Facebook and the district website Tuesday afternoon that both Meadowview and Woodview will operate on a half-day schedule for the remainder of the week, Aug. 28-30, due to the heat. Both schools will only be open from 8-11 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, according to the district.

In addition, AM kindergarten will report on Aug. 28 and 30, while PM kindergarten will report on Aug. 29.

All other schools will operate on a normal schedule, according to the district.

Meadowview and Woodview were closed Tuesday due to the excessive heat. As of 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the temperature in Grayslake was 94 degrees, with a heat index of 99, according to the National Weather Service.

All after-school activities were canceled Tuesday for Grayslake Middle School, Frederick and the Park Campus "due to the high heat and humidity," according to a statement on the district website.
