We're Off to See: The Wicked Witch of the West

Check out our brief Q & A with Allie Bowers, who will play the Wicked Witch of the West in the Grayslake District 127 production of "The Wizard of Oz."

Editor's Note: Grayslake Central and North High Schools will present "The Wizard of Oz" March 14-17 in the Grayslake Central Theatre. The production will feature more than 120 students from both high schools, along with 30 first- through sixth-graders from local elementary schools. Over the next several days, we'll be featuring Q & A profiles with various cast and crew members. Enjoy!

1. What's the best thing about playing the witch?

  • I like being evil because I normally am not. And I think after finding it, my cackle is my favorite thing.

2. What's your favorite song in "The Wizard of Oz?"

  • I love "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." I just think it's so pretty and hopeful.

3. Why should people come out to see this performance?

  • We've been working for months. And I think not only the fact that it's just a beautiful show, but visually, I think it's going to put "The Wizard of Oz" in a different light. There are special effects, there are people flying.
