"The entire team did an outstanding job as we won our second consecutive Fox Valley Fox division championship going 12-0 in division play," said Head Coach Steve Ikenn. "Morgan Dahlstrom has been a force on the boards as well as scoring in the post. Skyler Jessop scored career-high 27 points in our overtime loss to Cary-Grove. Claire Brennan has done a great job of running the point and is our second leading scorer. Michelle Lettenmair and Sarah Kuligowski haven given us a big lift coming off the bench."

Ikenn added, "As the regular season winds down, you want to be sure your team is ready for the playoffs. Coming down the stretch looking to clinch the division kept us focused and ready for each game. The last regular season game against Cary-Grove was a playoff-type atmosphere against a very good team. Even though we lost the game I think we came out of it better prepared to move forward into the post-season."

NEXT UP:

The Lady Rams earned the #1 seed in the Wauconda Regional and the #1 seed in the Arlington Heights Sectional. They will play in the Finals of the Wauconda Regional at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17 against Johnsburg. The Rams have beaten the Skyhawks twice this season already. If they win that game they will move to the Sectional in Arlington Heights and play the winner of the Chicago (Northside Prep) Regional (which could be cross-town rival Grayslake North) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at St. Viator High School.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL:

The Rams are currently 18-6 overall and 9-1 in conference play. They are holding on to first place in the Fox Valley Fox Division like a hungry dog to a fresh butcher bone. Grayslake Central has a 2-game losing streak going and will look to break back into the win column against Woodstock North this Friday.

"Jordan Taylor continues to score points," said Head Coach Brian Moe. "He averaged 25 over the two games, including 31 at Woodstock. During the Woodstock game, Jordan scored his 1,000th career point."

Playing without injured 6’9" center Casey Boyle, the Rams played aggressively against a solid Zee Bee team. Sophomore Milik Yarbrough of Zion Benton lit up the Rams for 40 points. The game went down to the wire.

"We have continued to play good team defense," said Moe. "The team has gotten back to really working our offense, sharing the ball, and getting great shots out of our offense. We are hoping to continue our good play and show our commitment to being a good team that is tough to beat."
