Fund-raiser for Area Soccer Team's Europe Trip

The Eagles Soccer Team is hosting a fund-raiser toward their trip to compete in Europe. Jersey Mike’s Subs at 7105 Grand Avenue, Gurnee, is joining forces with the Lakes Eagles Booster Club at Lakes Community High School.

From Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20, anyone who has a fundraising coupon can get a free regular size sub with a $2 minimum donation, although the hope is customers will respond by contributing more. Coupons are being distributed throughout local communities.

“We think this is a great opportunity for the kids to improve their athletic skills by playing against great competition and also gain exposure to different cultures,” said Jay Punukollu, store owner. “Come on in to the store and support the team.”

"This is truly a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity for this group of boys. We hope for them to develop an understanding of the competitive level of training and competition from countries where soccer is not only a passion, but almost a way of life. In addition, we will be taking in the sights of historic Amsterdam, Brussels,
Liege, Aachen, Cologne, and Maastricht, and maybe even making some new friends along the way.” said Terry Beadle, president of Lakes Eagles Booster Club. “We are grateful that Jersey Mike’s and their customers will help make this experience possible for the students.”

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
