GYBA Season Kicks Off, Heats Up

The teams took the field and competed in a fierce but friendly game of the American pasttime - baseball.

Grayslake Youth Baseball Association (GYBA) aims to teach hundreds of kids the sport of baseball in an environment that is safe, organized and fun. They emphasize "sportsmanship, teamwork, community, and to the spirit that accompany success," according to the GYBA website at www.gybaonline.org/.

The Phillies and Indians kicked off the season in a nail biter, as the game was not decided until the last pitch. The Indians jumped out to a 4 run lead with a big second inning.  The Phillies answered with 5 runs in the third, and added 3 more in the 4th.  An insurance run in the bottom of the 5th by Jack Sisson proved necessary, as the Indians rallied for 4 more in the 6th, and had bases loaded when Jack Sisson retired the last batter for a 1 run victory.
