Praise for GCHS Offensive Line

A Letter to the Editor from Scott Beckman

Editor's Note: Scott Beckman, father of GCHS quarterback Ray Beckman, sent this letter into Patch and the Daily Herald after a regular season game. It has been slightly edited.

Dear Patch and the Daily Herald,

Both of your publications ran articles about the GCHS football team and both of your publications had very complimentary comments about my son, Ray Beckman, who is fortunate to be the Ram's quarterback.  We are very thankful for the recognition that you have given Ray this year.

However, in every article written this year about Ray, there is one critical piece always missing. Ray has had excellent pass protection all year from his offensive line.

Senior leadership has been remarkable, led by center Nick Celeslie (2 year starter), tight end CJ Stempeck (2 year starter), guard Connor Hirt (2 year starter), tackle Chris Loeffl (2 year starter), guard Jon Sell, tackle John Curtis, and junior starters tackle Charlie Risinger, tackle Brandon Seiler and tight end Jimmie Molitor.

These young men have worked all year, day in and day out, gaining their satisfaction from knowing that they helped make these big plays possible.  Through their excellent pass blocking, Ray has the time to see downfield in order to find the open receiver.

I am hopeful that your publications will find the space to recognize these individuals who never get the recognition they truly deserve.    Thank you for reading this message.

Scott Beckman
