Say "Aloha" to Aloha Falls!

The miniature golf establishment at at Route 45 and Peterson Road, just outside of Grayslake, officially opened for business June 8.

"A miniature golf course — it's back in Libertyville!" said Conrad "Connie"  Kowal, director of the Recreation and Sports Complex. "We're happy to have you here."

The site, previously home to a miniature golf course, has been vacant since 2007, Kowal said.

In October, Kowal was approached by Ryan Tracy, who dreamed of opening his own miniature golf course.

"I said, 'We've got a property that could be the reality for your dreams,'" said Kowal. "It's been wonderful working with Ryan."

with Aloha Falls LLC to operate the Hawaiian-themed miniature golf course.

It consists of two courses: the Beach Course and the Waterfall Course. The latter is the tougher of the two, full of water traps and uneven terrain. Tracy said the Waterfall Course has been called "the most difficult course in all of Chicagoland."

In all, there are 27 holes, with nine on the Beach Course and 18 on the Waterfall Course.

Aloha Falls held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday, June 7, in front of the waterfall.

Aloha Falls will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 8 through Labor Day weekend. After Labor Day weekend, the course will be open from 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The cost to golf is $8 for adults and $7 for children 12 and younger.
