An Evening at the Grayslake Farmers Market

I treated myself to an evening wandering the Grayslake Farmers Market after an especially long day at work Wednesday.

The weather was perfect, and after I had a hotdog and lemonade, I filled my bag with fresh corn, apple cider doughnuts, honey and the biggest, sweetest blackberries I'd ever seen from Wayne Miller's Michigan Fruit. (Tip: Place them on a platter in the fridge and don't wash until you're ready to eat).

Did you know the farmers market website, www.grayslakefarmersmarket.com, posts weekly recipes using produce and other goodies sold by market vendors?

The market, which runs from 3 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday on downtown Center Street, was well-attended by families, and many cute dogs, enjoying the gorgeous evening.

If you haven't taken the time to come out, what are you waiting for?
