Chicago Athletes, Local Celebrity to Sign Autographs at Summer Celebration

Two famous Chicago athletes and a local celebrity will visit  at Vernon Hill's Summer Celebration to sign autographs. 

Here's a look at who you'll see at Summer Celebration, slated for July 19-22.

July 21, 5-5:30 p.m.: Jamie Lono, contestant from season two of "The Voice."

After being fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to make an appearance on NBC’s second season of "The Voice," Jamie has returned back to his home of Chicago to prepare for the release of his first EP album (due out late summer). Jamie is more confident than ever that he is straying down the path he was meant to explore, and he has zero intention of strumming off of it anytime in the future.

He is taking his experiences day-by-day with hopes that as each second passes, he will gain further aspects of inspiration that he can share with his audiences around the world.

July 21, 6-8 p.m.: Frank Thomas, "The Big Hurt" from the Chicago White Sox and current Comast SportsNet Chicago analyst. Fans can purchase cans of "Big Hurt Beer" for Thomas to autograph. No other baseball memorabilia will be signed.

Frank Thomas was a designated hitter and first baseman for the Chicago White Sox. He became one of baseball’s biggest stars in the 1990s. Nicknamed “The Big Hurt,” Thomas is known for his menacing home run power. He is a five-time All-Star (1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997), four-time Silver Slugger Award winner (1991, 1993, 1994, 2000) and two-time AL MVP (1993, 1994). He won the AL batting title in 1997, was named AL Comeback Player of the Year in 2000, and his uniform number was retired by the White Sox.

July 22, 3-5 p.m.: Dan Hampton, Super Bowl Champ from the Chicago Bears.

A disruptive force from the inside or outside, Dan Hampton anchored one of the most dominant defensive lines in NFL history. Hampton was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2002 and is the 26th Bear to earn the honor. He began his NFL career in 1979 and is one of only two Bears players to ever play in three decades.  He was a Pro Bowl performer four times (1980, 1982, 1984 and 1985), twice as a defensive end and two times as a defensive tackle. Hampton was named Defensive MVP by Pro Football Weekly in 1982 and started the first 48 games of his career where he established himself as a dominant pass rusher, recording 25 sacks during his first three seasons in the league.
