Jamie Lono From The Voice To Perform In Grayslake

The free Summer Concert Series at the Grayslake Public Library includes five concerts.

The first of five free concerts at the will include Jamie Lono from the NBC Television Show, The Voice. Other concerts include performances by one of the premier Beatles tribute bands, The Cavern Beat and a wonderful all-new Polynesian music and dance review.

Join us on the library lawn for some summer magic and musical performances that everyone will enjoy. Bring your family and friends, dinner and snacks, lawn chairs and blankets.

There’s a little something for everyone this year: one of Cee Lo Green’s team members from NBC’s The Voice, lush and inspired acoustic melodies, sounds from the islands, and one of the best Beatles tribute bands around.

The library will provide limited seating but they encourage you to bring your own blankets or chairs. Concerts are sponsored by the Friends of the Library and are free. There may be some fun surprises in store for concert-goers too, including some summer treats and fun giveaways, so come and enjoy the sweet nights of summer with us.

You saw him on NBC’s hit TV show, The Voice, as part of Cee Lo Green’s dynamic team, now come hear him live in concert on the lawn! His style of writing has nothing but pure soul. Jamie has many vocal inspirations such as Ray LaMontagne, Marc Broussard, Jack Johnson, and more of the like in the blues/soul genre. Come to this live show and experience what it’s like to feel good inside.

Lono represents the Hawaiian God of peace and music. It is something that Jamie feels a deep connection to. He expresses through his music that he wants people to feel good and forget those parts of your life that keep you down.His hardships have given him fuel for his writing. His style of writing has nothing but pure soul. TEAR-WATER  CHILI

Opening Performance by Jon Napiorkowski

Monday, June 25 at 7 p.m.

Indie band Tear Water Chili is an experimental folk/rock duo from right here in our own community. Fun and spirit-moving, their sound waves bring original work infused with flavors of blues, jazz, folk and rock. They’re most recently released album is entitled Sugar + Rain – concert goers will have a chance to win copies of this CD.  

They’ll also treat us with selections from their album of children’s songs that’s expected to be released later this year. Opening for Tear-Water Chili is another local musician, Jon Napiorkowski.  He’s performed at Ravinia and will serenade us here with popular tunes and original songs in the style of John Mayer, Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson.

JOHNNY RUSSLER & THE BEACH BUM BAND

Monday, July 16 at 7 p.m. 

(this concert has been rescheduled to this new date – July 9 cancelled)

Join Johnny Russler and his Beach Bum Band as they transport you away, playing the Sweet Sound of Caribbean Rock, Reggae and  Calypso. You’ll hear some wonderful renditions of some of your favorite beach and summer songs including those by Jimmy Buffet, Bob Marley and others.

THE CAVERN BEAT

Monday, July 23  at 7 p.m.

Get ready to twist and shout the night away…The Fab Four are coming to rock the Library! 

Join us on the lawn for a very special concert as we present one of the world’s premier Beatles Tribute Bands. They’ve performed all over the world and are compared to 'the jukebox' for sounding so much like the real thing! To stay true to that sound, they use vintage guitars and amplifiers in their performances-- the same brand the Beatles used. And, they dress and wear their hair in the famous Fab Four style for the full effect! Be a part of this magical, musical tour of Beatles music.  

MAKANI AND FRIENDS

Monday, August 6 at 7 p.m.

You’ll want to bring the whole family to see this unique and all-new summer review. Come with us on a journey to the Polynesian Islands. Listen as the tropical breezes carry the beautiful voices of Makani, the strumming of ukuleles, the beating of the Tahitian Drums and the traditional dances of Hokule’a. Hear songs from Hawai’i, Tahiti and New Zealand. 

This year, experience those familiar songs of Hawai’i along with the traditional selections. Get ready to move to the heartbeat of the all new Tahitian Drum segment. Feel the heat of the Siva Afi (Dance of Fire) by Hokule’a’s own…”Kawika” and  you’ll be captivated by the beautiful dancing of Hokule’a’s, “Akamai”. A hui hou!  (Until we meet again).
