PHOTO GALLERY: Dirty Girl Mud Run

Almost 10,000 women got down and dirty at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake on June 30 and July 1 to raise money for breast cancer research.

They were covered in dirt, from their ponytails to their running shoes. And they loved it. The 9,900 women from throughout Lake, Cook and McHenrty Counties, as well as from Illinois and at least five surrounding states, jumped in, over and through the mud in the Dirty Girl Mud Run at the Lake County Fairgrounds this weekend.

The 5K run is riddled with obstacles including mud pits, steep hills, hanging tires and cargo nets. The event raises money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, with 2.5% of racer's registration fees going towards the cause.

For more information on the event, see the full story here.
