Adults & teens will receive a “Bingo” card and can choose from a variety of activities such as “check out a book with a travel theme” or “download an eBook.” After completing five activities in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal row, cards will be submitted for a drawing at the end of the program.

Individuals may submit multiple cards and increase their odds of winning, however only one gift cards per person will be awarded. Stop by the Adult Reference Desk to get started.

Youth (Infant through 6th grade) Summer Reading Program:
Monday, June 3-Wednesday, July 31
Youth will track their reading by “reading days.” Each day they read at least 20 minutes will count as one day toward the goal of 30 days of reading. Prizes will be awarded after each set of 10 reading days is complete. After 30 days of reading, participants will be able to pick out a book to take home and keep.

In addition, once youth are signed up for the program at the Youth Reference Desk, they will receive a coupon for “satisfaction guaranteed” in finding a book they enjoy. Children may come back as many times as necessary and ask for help from the youth reference staff to find the perfect book.

Come Travel with Me:
Monday, June 3-Wednesday, July 3
Children can check out a “Llama Llama” Back Pack, based on the beloved stories, to take along with them on any summer travels whether it is a vacation, visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s house or even an afternoon in the park. Back packs contain Llama Llama books, a take along doll and a post card.

Read to Ripley:
Saturdays, June 8, 15 and 22; July 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. When children read aloud it increases their fluency, comprehension, and builds confidence. When children can read aloud in a supportive environment it becomes less scary. Ripley, a certified therapy dog, will be at the Grayslake library to help create a fun and friendly experience for K to age 6 readers.  Registration is required.
