Eyes To See
Today on the train I met up with a precious family. The father and mother were blind and both carried white, with a red tip, walking sticks. They had two small seeing children about age three and five. I think the mother had a bit of sight but not much. I helped the kids to board the train and as I watched them find their seat I thought, “ what might their every day lives be like?” I certainly take my sight for granted most days.
I was amazed by their joy and excitement to go to the city, perhaps to do some Christmas shopping. That must be a huge challenge, but here they are on the train taking on that very challenge.
I was pleased to see everyone around was so helpful and kind to them, part of why I love the Midwest, rich kindness, most of the time.

As I watch the snow begin to fall I realize how much joy that bring to my eyes. Today, I am reminded to never take these eyes God gave me for granted. They are a gift. As you watch the snow fall maybe you can say a thank you for the eyes that allow you to see such beauty.
