LAKE COUNTY, IL (07/11/12) – United Way of Lake County has been selected out of 2,400 national Nominees as a Top 5 Regional Finalist in the Educational Advancement category for the 4th Annual CLASSY Awards for their innovative Page it Forward book drive.
A CLASSY Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions within the nonprofit industry and has been described as the “Oscars” of Philanthropy. The CLASSYs have become a nationally-recognized honor, awarded to the most outstanding and compelling philanthropic achievers by their peers and supporters. Beyond this recognition, the intrinsic value of the CLASSY Awards lies in the opportunity for charitable organizations to tell their stories and spread awareness for their causes.
United Way of Lake County needs your help to move on to the next round by casting your vote before July 26. Voting has begun and continues until Thursday, July 26th. You can submit your vote by following these steps:
STEP 1: Visit www.stayclassy.org/classy-awards/vote
STEP 2: Select Midwest on the map.
STEP 3: Scroll down the page and find the “Educational Advancement” category. STEP 4: Select United Way of Lake County.
STEP 5: Click “Submit my final ballot” at the bottom of the page. When prompted, login via Facebook (or alternative login option) to complete submission. (Note: you may only vote once per category per region.)
United Way of Lake County encourages the public to spread the word and encourage family, friends, and coworkers to vote and share the news via social networks as well.
While the public is casting their votes, a panel of Past CLASSY Awards Winners will judge and score each Regional Finalist based on impact, originality and category fit. The Regional Winners in each category will be determined by a combination of the Public Vote (50%) and the Past Winner Judges' Scores (50%). The Regional Winners will be announced on July 31st. National Winners will be announced live on stage at the CLASSY Awards Ceremony in September in San Diego, California.
The CLASSY Awards is the largest philanthropic awards ceremony in the country, celebrating the greatest charitable achievements by nonprofit organizations, socially conscious businesses, and individuals worldwide. Last year, nearly 2,000 organizations and volunteers were nominated for a CLASSY Award, and their collective efforts impacted the lives of more than 200,000,000 people in 71 countries worldwide.
“We are honored to be nominated as a leading nonprofit in the Educational Advancement category since United Way of Lake County is focused on preparing our children to succeed in a changing world by focusing on education and building safe and stable families,” comments Kristi Long, President and CEO of United Way of Lake County.” We are thrilled for the incredible opportunity to receive national recognition and visibility for our innovative Page it Forward campaign amidst other impactful nonprofit organizations, individuals and businesses that are making a difference.”
