Volunteer in the community at Live United Saturdays!

United Way of Lake County offers monthly public volunteer opportunities called Live United Saturdays. Bring the family & support the community! Join hands. Open your hearts. Lend your muscle.


United Way of Lake County hosts monthly public volunteer opportunities. Join us and other community volunteers by registering for any of these events:

*Children ages 5 and up are generally welcome to attend with an adult present, so get the whole family involved and LIVE UNITED on Saturday! 

March 3: Miguel Juarez Middle School: 9am-Noon
201 N. Butrick Street, Waukegan
Volunteers will assist  Destination Imagination in a variety of roles to help the tournament run smoothly. Approximately 80 teams of students will be presenting their solutions to a variety of challenges, including improvisation, fine arts, engineering, and service learning.  Destination Imagination is a non-profit organization that features kid-powered challenges to teach the building blocks of innovation.

April 14: Northern Illinois Food Bank: 9-11:30am
440 Keller Drive, Park City
Volunteers will help with sorting & organizing donated frozen meat for this food bank that serves smaller food pantries in 13 northern Illinois counties, including Lake and McHenry.  Please wear close-toed shoes & bring work gloves. No volunteers under the age of 14 allowed. Car pooling recommended.  All volunteers need to park in back of the building (take the unnamed road just north of Keller Drive to the signs for Northern Illinois Food Bank.)

May 19: Illinois State Beach Park: 9am-Noon
1 Lake Front Drive, Zion
Volunteers will conduct a Beach Sweep along Lake Michigan. Distance can range, based on number of volunteers. Volunteers need to bring work gloves & dress accordingly. No open-toed shoes. Bags will be provided. Families with their children are welcomed to attend. Volunteers are to meet at the picnic area below the park office. United Way of Lake County signs will be posted as well!
