Top 5 Weekend Activities for February 8th-10th In Lake County.

  1. Children's Craft Activity: Cartesian Divers. Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m. Free and open to the public, The Great Lakes Naval Museum will be hosting a Cartesian diver activity for kids. Children and adults will learn about U.S. Master Navy Diver Carl Brashear and the principles of buoyancy by making their own Cartesian divers. All craft supplies will be provided.   2. Shakespeare in Love Valentine’s Show. Saturday, Feb. 9. Comedy team “The Bard” revisits the themes of Shakespeare, spontaneously performing the audience’s suggestions with Elizabethan charm. A family friendly performance starts at 7:30 p.m. followed by a mature audience’s show at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Improv Playhouse, 735 N. Milwaukee, Libertyville.
  3. 53rd Annual Chain O’ Lakes Fishing Derby and Winter Festival. Saturday, Feb. 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 10 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ice or no ice, this family friendly event features over $5,000 in cash and prizes and games for both children and adults. Fish judging with prizes for the largest catch and food will be inside the tent this year. Thirsty Turtle on Channel Lake, 42273 N. Woodbine Ave., Antioch.
  4. Valentine’s Holiday “Make Your Own Heart. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 through Sunday, Feb. 10. Ages 10 and above can participate in the unique experience of blowing glass in the shape of a heart for that special someone. Peter Patterson Glassworks, 888 Tower Road Suite E, Mundelein.
  5. Charles Dickens Exhibit at the Museum. Through Sunday, Feb. 24. Charles Dickens created some of the world’s most memorable characters with Ebenezer Scrooge, Oliver Twist, Tiny Tim and many others, becoming the first international celebrity of the modern age. Hundreds of objects and documents from an exclusive private collection, together with rare first editions of his most famous works are on display.
