Just Book It! 5K Run/Walk

The Grayslake Running Club & The Grayslake Library Foundation invite you to attend the Inaugural Just Book It! 5K Run/Walk  on Saturday, August 6, 2011.

Proceeds from the event will be used for the expansion of the library’s circulation desk and for a new youth theme bag reading program.

The Just Book It! 5K Run/Walk promises to provide a new racing experience for area residents and families. ... This is one the first and only races in Lake County offering three separate 5K age categories for children 14 and under! For children age 10 and under, there is also a 400 meter (1/4 mile) Kids Dash. All Kids Dash and 5K finishers under the age of 14 will receive a free book and goody bag!

Live entertainment will be provided by Jimmy Novack of WXLC as well as the Grayslake North Marching Band. There will be food and vendor booths before and after the race, a children’s storytime and more! Post race refreshments will be provided for participants. Sign up early to get a free T-shirt and the lowest entry fee. T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 300 5K Run/Walk registrants. The first 500 pre-registered participants will also receive a goody bag.

Online registration will close at midnight, Wednesday August 3rd. Race day registration will also be available.

The costs for the races are:
5K Run/Walk: $25
5K Run/Walk after Aug 3rd: $30
Kids Dash (400m): $10
Kids Dash after Aug 3rd: $15

The top 3 male and female finishers in the following categories will receive a medal.
Under 10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 and over, plus overall male and female awards.

Special appearance by Olympian, Tom O’Hara, first Illinoisan to run a sub-four minute mile, NCAA Cross Country Champion, Olympian and holder of the world indoor record in the mile from ‘64 to ‘74.
