Exchange Club Members Honored at District Level

Mike Pruitt, Jeff Lockwood and Roberta Pfeiffer are honored for their dedicaiton and service to the community.

Several members were honored at the District Exchange Convention held in Springfield. Mike Pruitt of Grayslake received the Distinguished Service Award, Jeff Lockwood of Grayslake received the All American Award and Roberta Pfeiffer received honorable mention for the Exchangite of the Year Award.

Pruitt, owner of the , joined the Exchange Club in 2010 and immediately began work on the Annual Pancake Breakfast, the club's second largest fundraiser for the year. He hosted the Exchange Club's first 'Dine n Share' event which has raised $1,600 in two years. He also donates items for several events along with participating in all of them.

Pruitt was nominated for the Distinguished Service Award by Cynthia Lee who said "He was very qualified. This award goes to a member who has the overall effect of making the world a better place to live, and that, we think, is Mike."

Pruitt said, "I am shocked to receive this, to even be nominated for it was such a surprise."

Pruitt will serve as the incoming president for the Grayslake Exchange Club.

Lockwood Receives All American Award

Jeff Lockwood of Grayslake joined the Exchange Club in 1998 and has been an active member ever since. Lockwood received the All American Award for the Grayslake Exchange Club last year received it on the District level this year.

Lockwood has been instrumental in developing the donating countless hours on helping remodel the interior of the building. He has also served as the Santa for the Village of Grayslake for more than nine years, and for 13 years chaired the Service to Senior's with Exchange Santas who visit the elderly.

Lockwood has received the "So Proudly We Hail Award" from the club for the flags that are flown in the front of his home and also at the Youth Center. In Lee's nomination letter to the District Exchange Club she wrote "During the winter he snow plows every driveway on his street. At Easter he plants plastic eggs in all the neighbors' yards and fills them with money, candy or notes of wisdom."

"Jeff never says no to anyone who ever needs anything EVER," Lee wrote. "He has such a great smile and he is very humble, plus he is a big cheerleader for Exchange."

Pfeiffer Receives Honorable Mention for Exchangite of the Year Award

Roberta Pfeiffer was a member of the Breakfast Exchange Club of Gurnee before joining Grayslake's club in 2009. She has served in many leadership roles and on committees, including helping start-up the Antioch, Lake Villa and Lindenhurst Club.

In her nomination letter Lee said Pfeiffer "is always positive and upbeat, fun to work with and always has the Club's interest foremost in mind. Because she has given effortlessly of her time and talent, we believe she truly represents what an Exchangite is all about - genuine service to Exchange and to our community".

Pfeiffer received the Exchangite of the Year award for the Grayslake Club last year. This year she received Honorable Mention at the District level.

The Grayslake Exchange Club meets every Thursday from 12:00 - 1 p.m. at restaurant. The meetings are open to the community.
