Westlake Christian Academy Seniors Pack Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry that serves underprivileged children around the world.

Westlake Christian Academy seniors Emily Polelle, Tom Sewood, Stephanie Sewood, Josh Bond, and Malik Cole, along with Kurt Flemming, Westlake teacher and discipleship director, volunteered their time to help pack 31,000 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry to serve underprivileged children around the world. Shoeboxes are donated, then packed with clothes, toys, food and other gifts. Once packed, the boxes are delivered around Christmas time to children in need. More than 100 million gifts have been delivered since Operation Christmas Child’s beginning.

The Westlake volunteers were handling boxes collected from around the Chicagoland area, which were then loaded into semi-trucks to be delivered to Minneapolis where they will be prepared for overseas shipping and delivery, specifically to Kenya, Nigeria, Madagascar and India.
