Extreme Cold to Continue Tuesday in #Chiberia

The bitterly cold, record-breaking temperatures across Chicagoland are forecast to continue into Tuesday.

Chicago set a record low temperature Jan. 6 with a reading of -16 degrees observed, breaking the record of -14 degrees that was set back in 1894 and 1988.

The forecast low for Grayslake is -15 degrees for Monday night, with wind chills as low as -39, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. 

Tuesday should see a high of 3 degrees, but with winds gusting as high as 20 miles per hour, wind chill values of -39 are expected. A wind chill warning remains in effect until noon Tuesday.

Tuesday night's forecast low temperature is -2.

A slight warm-up is on the way Wednesday, with a forecast high of 13 degrees. Temperatures will warm even more as the week goes on, reaching 34 degrees Saturday and Sunday, with a chance of snow on Saturday.
