Toasty Temps, Summer Storms on the Way

Got a pool? Maybe even just a sprinkler?

This week—Monday and Tuesday, at least—will be a good time to use them.

While temperatures aren't forecast to reach those seen during last year's early July heat wave, when the mercury rose to 103 degrees, it'll still be toasty for a couple of days.

The forecast highs for Monday and Tuesday are 87 and 88, respectively, and we'll see chances for rain and thunderstorms both days, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago. There's a 40 percent chance of showers and storms after 4 p.m. Monday, and a 60 percent chance on Tuesday.

Temperatures will cool slightly for Wednesday, with a forecast high of 83 degrees and a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m.

The rest of the week should be sunny with highs near 80 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Chicago.
